"This is madness!" "This is Quahog!"

"The title 300 comes from, 'How gay is this movie on a scale of 1 to 10?'" - Sarah Silverman

Seems that Family Guy clips are now off limits to YouTube these days, thanks to claims put in by 20th Century Fox. Shame.

But of course, it's okay to put up clips that aren't directly taken from the episodes, i.e. that have been, shall we say, touched up in one form or another.

Which means this favorite is still up and should remain so for some time.

Bonus cartoon/300 fun - especially appealing to me, as you'll see.

Short Attention Span Theatre 4

Yes, it's time once again to cram as many clips into one minute as I can. Today, that includes:

Golfing with a Molotov cocktail...

...American Beauty, give or take two hours...

...Fidel Castro getting a headbutt...

...John Candy placing his famous order in The Blues Brothers...

...Michael Landon's laugh overdubbed...

...Stewie discovering static electricity...

...bad animation, catchy as all hell percussion...

...a blonde joke from a cutie...

...Keith Hernandez apologizes...

...and a Martian laughs.

Ten clips in 1:01 - I think that's a record! And, as it turns out, it's a few too many - you may need to hit "reload" partway through or you'll lose the sound...

Goodbye, Bob

Pets who don't want to be spayed or neutered are celebrating today as Bob Barker makes his final appearance on The Price Is Right. He's been hosting it almost as long as I've been alive, and it's going to be hard to imagine the landscape without him. Kind of like Queen Elizabeth II, if you think about it.

There are tons of Price is Right clips on YouTube (I've already featured one here), so I thought today I'd show a couple of Family Guy salutes.

One for the graduates

This weekend marks graduation weekend for a lot of colleges and universities, so I thought it would be fun to play a portion of Seth McFarland's address at Harvard last year. Seth, of course, is the creator of Family Guy, and he gave much of his speech in character - or, really, characters. This is the Stewie portion of the program, given between the Peter and the Quagmire portions.

Spidey!

I was considering marking the anniversary of the Kent State shootings today, but not even learning that Chrissie Hynde was one of the protestors could make it a non-gloomy post.

Besides, something else is going on today that's making everything awesome - Spiderman 3 has arrived at a theater near me. They say this one cost a quarter of a billion dollars to make. You have to wonder why - particularly when there are so many good examples of how quality Spidey can be made with much less.

For instance, here he is on Family Guy...

...on Electric Company (with Morgan Freeman as the cop)...

...as portrayed by Jack Black...

...and Sound of Music kid-grown-up Nicholas Hammond on the '70s TV version (LOVE that theme music).

And if all these clips took too long, here's the first movie in five (or so) seconds.

Doin' the Taube

Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street have gotten their fair share of ribbing over the years, from Mad Magazine to Family Guy. But you know what? Why should Americans have all the fun?

Freitag Nacht News,
a German comedy program, has recurring characters named Bernie und Ert. Suffice to say, they do things differently in the Fatherland. (Don't worry, it's not a scheisse video... this time.)

Giggidy

I have to admit I'm a big fan of Glen Quagmire, the character on Family Guy who can't not be rude, crude and lewd. Just one look at his half-lidded smile and I'm ready to laugh. Then he talks and that's usually the end of it for me.

Here's my favorite bit of his from this season.

Here's some more of his greatest hits. My personal favorite is at 3:12-3:27.

Allll riiiiight.
